Sometimes in life, strange coincidences occur, causing us to ponder the fates that keep the universe moving smoothly.  As some of you know, our 'John Lewis' Syrah is named after Pam Harrington's father, who passed away on October 31st, 1999.  This wine is a tribute to him and the great things he accomplished in his life.  On October 31st, 2009, exactly ten years to the day of John Lewis' passing, we received the following review for this wine.  We feel it is in some way his approval of what we are doing with Gramercy.

"Writing about Gramercy Cellars recently I said "If you are looking for a bandwagon on which to jump, now would be the time." Less than a year later, I must amend that statement. The concept was right but the metaphor all wrong. This was not a passing bandwagon but rather a rocket ship on the launch pad."

"It may have scared the crap out of him when he made it, but it impressed the hell out of me when I tasted it. This awe-inspiring effort, which recently received a 96 point rating from Wine Advocate, will be released next year."

"Gramercy's last set of releases, reviewed in Issue 177, was first-class but the latest collection is eye-opening. My advice: get on Gramercy's mailing list while you still can."

Bright and juicy, this is impressive for the purity of its flavors, with a mix of plum, currant, savory spice and espresso that lingers appealingly on the creamy finish. Drink now through 2013.
